i love this format - thank you for this bouquet links with your thoughts.
one fear with the new tools I feel is the trap of optimization - these tools surely helps little tinkering is fine but without a good personal workflow or a focus on fundamentals/first principles it can turn into mess and time drain. Speaking from my personal experience of over optimizing tools for the personal use for eg notion.
thanks chirag, really appreciate your feedback and support. totally get what you mean about the trap of optimization—been there myself. would love to hear more about your experience with over-optimizing in notion and how you’re dealing with it. always curious about how others shape their workflows.
i started using notion during the 2020 lockdown and created numerous trackers, databases, and notes, i think i had around 8,000 pages in my last export. the system became so large that it was difficult to navigate, and sometime around last year, i stopped using it actively. now i only use it for referencing old notes or occasional collaborative documents.
after some struggle, i finally shifted to obsidian last year, and it feels much snappier - i'm more comfortable using it. i appreciate the "files over apps" approach. while i did some obsessive tinkering here as well, i'm now at a point where i'm focusing on getting things done first and only optimizing occasionally.
Hi Shivam, I was wondering if you would be interested in participating in our research about the future of AI in Creative Industries? Would be really keen to hear your perspectives. It only takes 10mins and I am sure you will find it interesting.
